Ladue Publications National Awards

The Panorama newsmagazine earned a Gold Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The Rambler yearbook was named a Pacemaker Finalist by the National Scholastic Press Association for the 2020 yearbook, “It’s Not Bragging if it’s True.”

The Panorama earned 10th place overall in Best of Show for NSPA fall 2020 and fifth place for The Music Issue in the specialty issue category. The Infographic Issue placed 10th in specialty issue in the spring. The Rambler yearbook placed 7th in Best of Show for the 2020 yearbook, “It’s Not Bragging if it’s True.”

Quill and Scroll, the journalism national honors society, named the Panorama one of the top three newsmagazines in the nation for Visual Excellence.

Columbia Scholastic Press Awards

  • Sophia Liu won First Place in Design Portfolio of Work.
  • Sophia Liu won First Place in Infographic Portfolio of Work.
  • Grace Hu won First Place in Newsmagazine Cover for  “The Music Issue.”
  • Oviya Srihari and Danielle Zhang won First Place in Alternative Story Presentation for  “Plant Parenting 101.”
  •  Hugh Chan, Sophia Liu and Danielle Zhang won Second Place in Alternative Story Presentation for  “Hugh’s Reviews.”
  • Lucy Lochmoeller and Virginia Schulte received an Honorable Mention in Cultural Feature for “Perfect Charcuterie.”
  • Danielle Zhang received an Honorable Mention in Cartoon Portfolio of Work.

Quill and Scroll Awards

  • Sophia Liu placed first in Quill and Scroll’s national competition for Feature Page Design with “Rap the Route.”
  • Domenic Fenoglio placed first in Quill and Scroll’s national competition for Sports Page Design with “Disorder on the Court.”
  • Grace Hu placed second in Quill and Scroll’s national competition for Newsmagazine Front Page Design with “The Music Issue.”
  • Hugh Chan placed third in Quill and Scroll’s national competition for Review Writing with “How the cookies crumble.
  • Grace Hu received an Honorable Mention in Quill and Scroll’s national competition for Feature Page Design with “Swift Stages.”
  • Domenic Fenoglio received an Honorable Mention in Quill and Scroll’s national competition for Feature Writing with “Using Her Voice.”
  • Hugh Chan received an Honorable Mention in Quill and Scroll’s national competition for Review Writing with “Hip-Hop Heroes.”
  • Kiran Varadarchari received an Honorable Mention in Quill and Scroll’s national competition for Sports Feature Writing with “Girls Join Ladue Wresting Team.”

  • Clayton Coughlin, Marissa Mathieson, and Joanne Sung placed first in NSPA’s national competition for Informational Graphic with “How to Picnic.”
  • Domenic Fenoglio placed second in NSPA’s national competition for Sports Story with “I Love You, Man.
  • Marissa Mathieson and Joanne Sung placed second in NSPA’s national competition for Magazine Cover with “The February Issue.
  • Hugh Chan and Sophia Liu placed third in NSPA’s national competition for Informational Graphic with “Hugh’s Reviews: The Definitive STL Food Guide.”

Missouri Awards

  • Ethan Willick and Grace Hu were named to the Missouri All State Journalism Team.
  • Sophia Liu won the Missouri Journalism Education Association’s Illustration Design contest with “Rap the Route.
  • Sophia Liu was a finalist in the Missouri Journalism Education Association’s Art of the Year: Infographics contest with “Paying for a Pandemic.
  • Lucy Lochmoeller and Ginger Schulte were finalists in the Missouri Journalism Education Association’s Newspaper Design of the Year: Inside Page contest with “The Perfect Charcuterie.”
  • Marissa Mathieson and Joanne Sung were finalists in the Missouri Journalism Education Association’s Newspaper Design of the Year: Doubletruck contest with “Mailing in the Votes.”
  • Joanne Sung was a finalist in the Missouri Journalism Education Association’s Newspaper Cover Design contest with “The September Issue.”
